Mamma Mia!

Tonight was a great night! Beth, Lindy and I went to "Mamma Mia". I've always wanted to see this musical, and Beth surprised me with tickets - as an early birthday present - since she prob won't be here on my bday :-( .

We had a great dinner at El Torito and really enjoyed the show! Always fun (and necessary) to have a girl's outing. Thanks for the great gift, Beth!!

I love all the music of ABBA, but I also was particularly touched by the song "Slipping Through My Fingers", which I'd never heard before. It was very sentimental and made me think of my three sweet girls. Reading it doesn't do it justice...you should download it! But here are the lyrics:

Schoolbag in hand
She leaves home in the early morning
Waving goodbye
With an absent-minded smile
I watch her go
With a surge of that well-known sadness
And I have to sit down for a while
The feeling that I'm loosing her forever
And without really entering her world
I'm glad whenever I can share her laughter
That funny little girl

Slipping through my fingers all the time
I try to capture every minute
The feeling in it
Slipping through my fingers all the time
Do I really see what's in her mind
Each time I think I'm close to knowing
She keeps on growing
Slipping through my fingers all the time

Sleep in our eyes
Her and me at the breakfast table
Barely awakeI let precious time go by
Then when she's gone
There's that odd melancholy feeling
And a sense of guiltI can't deny
What happened to the wonderful adventures
The places I had planned for us to go
Well some of that we did
But most we didn't
And why I just don't know
Slipping through my fingers all the time

I try to capture every minute
The feeling in it
Slipping through my fingers all the time
Do I really see what's in her mind
Each time I think I'm close to knowing
She keeps on growing
Slipping through my fingers all the time

Sometimes I wish that I could freeze the picture
And save it from the funny tricks of time
Slipping through my fingers.

LOVE THIS SHOW!!!! It was my favorite out of everything I saw in Vegas. I can't wait for the movie, but I doubt it will be as good as the show. The show totaly brings you in to the energy of it all and gets you on your feet dancing. What a great birthday gift!
