One of my high school students, Briana, has low vision and doesn't use a cane all the time. So I'm always trying to find lessons that will enhance her life in other ways. We did a series of lessons where she learned to search out a recipe online, shop for all the ingredients, and finally...baking a few dozens cookies. She did great!
Many cities do not have the chirping, talking, or beeping pedestrian signals. And there are many intersections that are not safe for a blind person to cross if they DON'T have one, because there is not enough of a traffic flow for them to safely cross. I have been teaching a lady in Kingsburg (Thair) for about a year, and she is totally blind. There are a few places near her home she had been wanting to walk to, but couldn't because of the lack of audible pedestrian buttons. I worked for a few months with the city of Kingsburg to get the buttons installed in Kingsburg...and they installed them all along the main street of Sierra!
(above) Peyton still requests to have us lay by her at night when she falls asleep. So we snapped a little photo one night.
(below) for some reason, I wanted to document the messy house one day! I hate it like this, and try not to let it happen often ;-)
"Have I changed much??" asks Tucker.
Cute puppies.
Found this pic of us walking to our first competition at the Saroyan!
Lexi, sewing her second pair of pointe shoes
Lexi's braces are a very interesting process. She had to have pins inserted into her jaw so her back teeth can be anchored to the pin and pulled forward. Yikes!
Jordyn is really in love with sunsets, and we have some really cool ones around here.
Another shot of the pups. Spending a quiet morning by the pool with the puppies.
Ah...surprises on my phone from Lexi-lou!
Lexi had to get her knee examined due to some pain she was having during dance. Before getting x-rays, she had to put on these slightly huge pants. ha ha
Lexi has had to sub (instead of just assist) several dance classes this year. She is a natural!!
Funniest picture of Rusty. He loves my laundry piles much more than I do!
