On day 2, we all met up around 2:00 to head up the Big Cottonwood Canyon for a night of camping. Maren found the perfect campsite for our BIG group of 30 people. It was perfect weather, and a nice and cool break from the hot valley. Tucker made fajitas for dinner (delicious!) and we did lots of hanging out around the fire (my favorite part of camping). It’s so fun to watch the fire and enjoy each other’s company. The kids had a blast exploring around. They wanted to go a bit far, so Tucker took them on a little expedition. Ranging in ages from 3-14, it was amazing how well all of the cousins got along. They genuinely enjoyed each other’s company.
It was the first time camping for Jordyn, Lexi and Peyton. They were troopers and LOVED it! Lexi admitted that she had thought we’d be sleeping on the side or tip-top of a mountain which is why she had been scared. So she was very relieved that we were on flat ground! :-)
Even with getting hardly any sleep, it was really fun. In fact, we all decided that it would be better to camp for two or three nights in the future because it’s SO much work to prepare just for one night.
