Nurse Taylor

When Jordyn spent her first 11 weeks of life in the NICU, we were blessed to have an angel nurse named Taylor. She was one of Jordyn's "primary nurses" from day one, which meant that she took care of her every single time she worked. She because such a source of comfort and strength to us during that dark and confusing time. She knew Jordyn's health and stats better than we did and she spent more time with our firstborn than we did. She was like the third parent! So when it came time to bring Jordyn home....we were so scared that Taylor wouldn't be coming home with her!

That was over 7 years ago now, and though we see Taylor (who is now a nurse practitioner) much less often, she has still secured a special little spot in our family history. And, although Jordyn can't remember her the way we can, she is very curious about her preemie story and always talks about her nurses. She has a picture of them up in her room and we talk about them a lot. So we were so happy to be able to meet up with Taylor and her adorable family last week for some ice cream and chatting. It was fun to remember the past and I was able to thank her for what she did for us. I told her she was like a flashlight for us when we were in the complete darkness of preemie-hood. She guided us, comforted us and taught us how to care for our tiny baby. Tucker commented after our visit with her "You know, it's strange....but when I was around Taylor tonight, I had this familiar calm feeling like everything's going to be okay". And I agree. Not only does she represent a special story in our past, but she has a genuine personality and spirit about her that is unmatched. Thank you Taylor, Brian, Cooper and Abby!! What a beautiful family you have!
