Sequoia National Park

We live in Central California.  Which, in itself, is not the most beautiful land in the world.  It’s full of crops of all kinds: cotton, grapes (raisins), peaches, plums, corn….as well as lots of stinky dairies!  But the scenery is not what we’re known for.

However, we DO live central to some of the most beautiful scenery and often forget how close we are to so many different landscapes.  The mountains 45 minutes to the East, the coast 90 minutes to the West, and all the sights and excitement (and traffic) of LA and San Fran within three hours.

On Saturday, I had a LOT to do and with the kids home all day everyday, it’s harder to make progress on my “lists”.  And since Tucker was preparing to be gone for 7 days this week, I asked him to take the girls on an outing.  He chose to take them to the Sequoias…with the original intent to see General Grant.  The General Grant tree is the largest Giant Sequoia in the General Grant Grove section of Kings Canyon National Park.  But the road got REEEAALLLY windy (with a long i) and 2/3 of the kids get car sick easily.  So he opted to stop early for some small hiking to a waterfall.

The report from the girls is that they liked the hiking and the waterfall, but they didn’t like the curvy road and drive.  It wasn’t a really long trip, but they had a fun adventure and Tucker took (as always) some really pretty pictures.

I want my post to look as good as yours. One of these days (together) we are going to get this blogging for me figured out! Great pictures - loved them. Gam
