I got home from class at 11:30pm the night before Easter. So busy with my school weekend, and having just come off a great birthday week for Jordyn…it wasn’t the first thing on my mind. Luckily it HAD been on my mind a few weeks before, so I was prepared. Although, our Easter bunny must not be good on variety year after year because today Jordyn asked me if the Easter bunny was real and when I said “why?” she said…”well, because we got silly putty, gum, and a yo-yo last year too”. LOL
Anyway, I was excited to get my butt out of bed in the morning and get everyone looking extra pretty since my mom had (yet again) done all the hard work coordinating the girls’ dresses and accessories for Easter Sunday. I felt extra blessed for that this year with my lack of extra time. After church, we managed to get some really cute pics…with hungry parents kids, and all! It was an exceptionally beautiful day, which only complimented such cheery, beautiful clothing.
Then, it was straight to Grandma’s house after church (which was nearly 2:00 by the time we got there) for lunch and festivities. In another life, mom really must have been an event coordinator. She uses her crazy skills and passions for it on our family – how lucky are we? I know she loves it…and it’s such fun memories for the grandkids.
First, we colored Easter Eggs – Lindy and I were in charge of that messy fun task.
Mom and Dad distracted Kylee in the other room because she would not have been much help dying eggs! (I love her PWT picture with the finger in the nose, lol. I’m sure she’ll love me for that someday).
OK, so my mom had spent many hours beforehand creating “Easter Bonnets” for all the kids. Seriously check these out. So detailed! They looked so cute! The kids all willingly wore them too! Well, I’m not so sure about Paxton. But at least for the picture!
Then, the hunt. Mom and Dad hid 80 eggs (filled with pennies or other coins) in the front and back yard…which goes pretty fast with 6 kids!
Then, Math-Whiz Grandpa helped them count up their totals (which was around $3 of $4 ea)
Then, pajama time! Some dancing…
And then Grandpa spontaneously got out the ladder and did a tree climbing session. The kids loved it! I can’t believe how much I used to climb trees as a kid…and there really aren’t any trees around that are mature enough for my kids to climb. So this was perfect.
Then we attempted jumping pics. Hard to do with the span of ages, but we got some fun ones anyway. Surely, we’ll perfect this someday!
Paxton was NOT happy about this one. I think it’s hard for him to pull his football player body up in the air that high!
We also heard a little concert done by Jordyn singing and Kristy playing guitar…then Lexi took a turn too.
My Easter Bonnet self-portrait. :-) Thank you Mom and Dad. I really don’t know if I’ll be able to follow in your footsteps and give my Grandkids the type of love and attention you give yours…it’s a pretty special gift! I’m thankful that my girls get that gift.
