Christmas Day
Christmas Eve!
We had quite the full Christmas Eve day. Our first event was the blessing of Tiffany's baby Eliza. Tiffany asked Tucker to bless her, and he was honored to do so. Then we came back to have a wonderful Christmas dinner with Tucker's family (thanks to Jeannine for another great dinner!), and afterwards some games and presents! It's always a full house (with 15 kids under the age of 10) and lots of fun.

It was so cold and windy!

Yummy Treat!

Today Lexi helped me make some treats for Jordyn's preschool teachers (while she was at preschool today). They are called Tollhouse Marble Squares and are SO yummy! Here's the recipe in case you want to try them!
1 1/2 cups flour
1 tsp soda
1 tsp salt
1 cup softened butter or margarine
3/4 cup sugar
3/4 cup brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp water
2 cups quick oats
2 eggs
1 12 oz pkg chocolate chips
Mix butter, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, water and eggs in a mixing bowl. Add flour, baking soda and salt. Stir in oats. Spread in a greased 13X9 pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips over dough. Bake @ 375. Put in oven for two minutes, then run a knife through it to marbleize. Return to oven and bake for 18-20 minutes. Cool and cut into squares.

Christmas Festivities
It's fun to have friends who feel like family. That is how the Thurston's are for us. We had a little get-together with them last night and it was lots of fun!!!

Holiday Cheer
I am trying to maintain a positive attitude of Holiday Cheer, but I haven't been very successful. I'm letting the stress of preparing for our trip/long drive get the best of me. I actually want to cry at the thought of all that has to be done before we go.
Speaking of crying, this one just about did it to me too: I got a new cell phone on Saturday, finally - I've put up with cell phone probs forever. We renewed our contract, so we got the $250 phone for only $50. Well, today one of my children (to remain nameless) accidentally dropped it in the toilet (and let's just say what was in the toilet wasn't #1). Mmm hmmm, yep, that's right. So now I don't have a cell phone and they don't cover that under warranty So to get a new one again would cost the full $250. Yep, now you understand why I want to cry.
Merry Christmas.

Ode to Derek
Tucker's long lost (not really, but sort of!) younger brother Derek is living across the world in China, and has been for nearly a year. He is an incredible high diver and is part of a show in China doing stunt dives. He loves it there so much that it doesn't seem like he'll be coming home anytime soon! We miss him a lot! But we're glad he's loving what he does and showing off his talent of diving. Here are some pics of him...

Derek does dives from 80+ feet high, and sometimes into water as shallow as 10 ft deep! He might be crazy!!!!

Sheep, Sick Baby and Piano Recital
Things have seemed extra busy lately. Mostly good things though....
Sunday night Jordyn had a Christmas program with her pre-school, where she dressed up as a sheep and sang songs. It was cute.

On a not-so-good note, Peyton has been sick for over a week. She's got a bad cold and we've been worried it could be RSV. I took her to the dr today and the test came back negative for RSV, but she's on antibiotics and so we hope that will do the trick. It's extra scary when they get sick at 6 weeks old. But she hasn't' slowed down her eating and today weighed in at 14 lbs! Nearly doubled her weight! She's a chunk!

Tonight was Jordyn's first piano recital. She was sooooo nervous. She did a group song with her class, and then played Mary Had A Little Lamb by herself. We were so proud of her! My mom, dad, Kristy and Ryan came with us to support her, which was very nice and helped her through it.

Whew, and that's just a few highlights of the past few days! If only I could get decent night sleep! I'm sure it will happen sometime in the next year, right?

Silly Aunt Kristy
My kids just adore and idolize their Aunt Kristy (my 17 year old sister). She is so fun and so good with them! The other day Jordyn said "Mom, when Lexi is big, she will be Kristy because she has blonde hair, right?". I thought that was funny. It's always fun to have Kristy around and we'll be sad when she leaves for college next year!!

Christmas in the Summer?

It was a little embarrassing the other day - we were putting up our Christmas lights outside and our neighbor commented "My, you sure have warm blooded kids!" as they were running around in swimsuits! I just told her that I pick my battles (as my mother taught me to do), and I wasn't picking that one today!

What is Life Like With Three Kids?
I've had a few of my friends who are near having #3 child as me this question. Here is my answer for today:
With two kids I felt busy, but like I could still stay "on top" of things. I still felt like I could be organized most (not all, but most) of the time, and, for my personality, this helped me feel sane. Well, I can no longer say that I feel "on top of" anything! Having this third child to care for, wash clothes for, feed, bathe, be up all night with, etc. has pushed me beyond the point of staying organized (mentally or physically!). It's been hard for me to constantly feel behind. I'm late everywhere and feel frazzled everywhere I go! I know SOME of this can be attributed to having a 6 week old. But I'm also trying to learn to have more patience and flexibility because there is no way for every single aspect of my life to feel perfectly organized the way I would like it to be with three children. With all their love and sweetness, they also bring with them lots of opinions, tantrums, fights, messes, etc! I've really been running the quote in my mind over and over "Life's a journey, not a destination"!!!

edited to add: This is what I mean...here are some pics of things that happened just TODAY - by both of my children! ugh. And I'm hardly ever farther than 10 feet from them. They are lightning fast.
